Festival Bake Off - #ThetFest15

The fee is just £1 per class, payable with your entry form. Children’s classes are also available for the under 12s.

Entries need to be delivered on competition day from 9am – 10.30am at the Guildhall, Market Place, Thetford. Doors close at 10.30am and no entries will be allowed after this time.
Public viewing is from 12.30pm – 1.30pm, with prize giving at 1pm and collection and selling of cakes from 1.30pm – yum!

Thetford's Great Pantomime Dame Pageant #ThetFest15

Opening Thetford’s Great Festival 2015, Thetford Players, working with Thetford Town Council are again putting on the Beauty Pageant to end all Beauty Pageants….Thetford’s Great Pantomime Dame Pageant.

Join the Players for a fabulous evening where Burlesque meets Broadway; Kylie meets Nora Batty and Strictly meets TOWIE as various pantomime dames representing local companies and groups take to the stage to strut their stuff.

Thetford's Great Festival - #ThetFest15 - Water Works

Win £100 of art materials!

'Water Works' is an exciting new project by West Suffolk Arts Centre (WSAC). For two weeks its artists will be hosting a series of classes and outdoor painting sessions in water-based media at familiar locations around Thetford, culminating in an exhibition in St Peter's Church.

'Water Works' is open to local artists of all levels of experience who will be aged 16 or over on 20th August 2015 and who have a home postcode within the IP24-IP27 area.

Everyone who takes part in the painting sessions around Thetford will be invited to submit up to three paintings to the special 'Water Works' exhibition (1st – 6th September).  On the last day of the exhibition all entries will be judged by a panel and a prize of £100 of art materials awarded to the winning artist plus £25 art shop gift vouchers for the two runners up.

Based in Brandon, West Suffolk Arts Centre is a not-for-profit organisation that has been delivering high quality community arts experiences throughout the East of England for more than a decade.

Thetford's Great Festival - #ThetFest15 - Udder Art

Shadwell Stud is one of the foremost Thoroughbred and Arabian horse breeding operations in the world. Situated in the heart of Norfolk’s farming community and following on from the success of “Get Camel Creative”, “Designer” Deer and “Horse of the Year” in 2012, 2013 and 2014, the stud has chosen a delightful Dairy Cow for their 2015 art project, working with local schools.

This year, there are 8 schools participating:

Admirals Academy, Redcastle Furze Family School, Drake Infant & Nursery, Raleigh Way Infant & Junior, Barnham Primary, East Harling Primary, Bishops CE VA Primary, Norwich Road Academy.

Judging will take place on Friday 21st August at 6pm in King’s House Gardens, when the winner’s cheque for £2,000 will be presented together with runners-up prizes.

Thetford's Great Festival - #ThetFest15 - Scarecrow

Entry Forms for Thetford's Great Scarecrow Competition our available NOW from the Festival Box Office or download them from here. They need to be in by Saturday 15th August.

 

Scarecrows can be made from any material but must be based on ‘Alice in Wonderland’ so there are lots of ideas to choose from. Entries must not be any wider than 1m nor taller than 2m. Your scarecrow needs to be mounted on a pole and preferably able to stand on its own.

There are 4 classes to enter: primary school age, secondary school age, adults and organisations/companies.

Bring your scarecrow must be brought to the conservatory in King’s House Gardens, King Street, Thetford on Wednesday 19th August between either 1.30pm and 3pm or 5pm to 6.30pm, along with your entry fee of £1.00.
